From the desk of the Director                 September 13, 2007

It is with great sadness that I write to inform you of the passing of our friend and neighbor, John Pliska.  John’s wife, Liz, plans to hold a memorial service for him in the next few weeks.  Our prayers are with Liz, Ethel and the entire Pliska family.

Our monthly Board meeting will take place on Tuesday, September 18 at 1:00 pm.  We hope you can attend.

In case you hadn’t heard, Peter Brady, Brookfield’s Handy Dandy Handyman came through once again with a donation of a Computer to be shared by the residents of Brooks Quarry. On Tuesday, September 18th we will welcome David Wainwright who will be available to familiarize us in the proper use of this new computer. He will be here from 10 am to 11:00 am teaching some very basic techniques to anyone interested in using it.  I encourage everyone that can, to join us. Coffee and donuts will be served.

The Commission on Aging has passed along an invitation to Brooks Quarry residents to participate in Brookfield’s  1st Annual Volunteer Fair.  We have been asked to set up a table at this event in order to let people know that we would appreciate anyone interested in volunteering here at the Quarry, to sign up.  I am looking for 3 or 4 residents that would like to take charge of this important project. Food and beverages, as well as live entertainment will be provided on Sunday, Sept. 30 from 4:00 to 6:00 pm. Please let Marian or I know if would like to participate.  Many organizations are expected to be there, so it should be a fun afternoon.

See you at the Tag Sale this Saturday !!

Regards, Lorrie
